The League is dedicated to being a loose support structure for lan parties in the mid-west and host an anual two game league. Each "member lan" is asked to consider hosting a league qualifier tournament at one of their events. The winners of these qualifiers are invited to a final event which includes a finals tournament, and regular lan party all rolled into one.

The theme song is just plain cool and get stuck in your head pretty firmly just as the theme from Oblivion did. Naturally this leads to me scouring youtube for some good cover versions, this rates pretty high up there. They just need a bit of time in a studio with some better recording equipment and this would be amazing!

I have never done a lot of work with client side dhtml (I'm much more of a php guy) I can guess that this was a lot of work. I wonder if this could be handeled in HTML 5. Maybe I'll take that on as a way of getting into the HTML 5 groove.

This is not due to lack of interest but rather because I simply was not entirely sure of my schedule. Indeed PAX plays host to a great variety of panels, discussion groups, concerts and other events. The nature of these is such that they are, of course, targeted at a gaming audience and so each seems to compete for my time in a manner totally aside from the expo hall, and numerous other features to be absorbed at PAX. From this competition there was one I knew I could not afford to miss (@icebug would never forgive me). The Guild Wars 2 panel.

The developers opened with a new game play trailer for the thief class which you can see below:

I am defiantly liking what the video implies regarding the new take on bow skills and projectile tracking. Hopefully gone are the days of the heat-seeking arrow that can track you through hills, rocks, trees etc and still score a hit as long as the archer rolled the proper number.

The other main focus of the developers seemed to be what they are calling "dynamic content". I am not even sure if I should use that as a proper noun or not but it seems to be a broad term encompassing a number of non-instance based efforts to make Tyria seem more dynamic. The idea being to provide lots of ways for the world to be globally influenced by the efforts of both PCs and enemies. Some of the mentioned efforts include towns and whole areas that can be controlled in whole or part by player or NPC factions in what seemed to be a scheme fairly common to the PVP side of many mmos and story lines that can be influenced by global events.
